  • Always keep an eye on the directional scanner. Add a new tab to Overview window. Open your directional scanner, remove the other stuff in the overview window except the ships (right click an object in the scanner window and select remove in the context menu). So when you select the tab you set up, directional scanner will show only the ships in space in that moment.

  • Always check the Killboards. Here is a good site for it : zKillboardsCheck the system for the last actions, last kills before jumping there. If there is a kill, check the killer, if he is a PKer add him to your contacts with bad standing so when he is online, there will be a notification.

  • I'm currently using a Retriever with two Modulated Strip Miner II's installed and mining crystal II's on them. Also I use a few mining drones. It suits me well right now.

Mining Guide for Beginners Par 3

Hi there EVE miners,
I couldn't write this blog for some time..cuz I gave a break to EVE..Now I am back and I will continue ...

Well I re-activated my account, updated the client and logged in...The EVE Online has been improved much as both aestheticaly and functionaly. The developers did a good job out there I think...

The game UI is improved very much. Targeting is easier, giving jobs to drones is easier, exploration is easier, exploration probe management is even easier... I think it is more fun like this...

I will focus on the mining, the rest is up to you to find out.

  • When you look at the Overview window (on the right by default) you see the preset tabs as General, Mining and Warp To ..You can add/remove tabs here or modify the existing ones. I like that preset tabs. There is a lot of info on the screen and these tabs group that info and presents to you.

  • When you select the Mining tab, you see a list of asteroid belts. You warp to one of them. The list changes and shows the asteroids' names, your distance to each one of them aaannnd -here it comes- it also shows the ore content of the asteroids with a diamond shape. I like that feature very much. It makes the life of a miner easier I think. The bigger the diamond, the more ore inside that asteroid so you don't have to carry a survey scanner with you (well you can have one if you want to). This empties an equipment slot on your ship which you can install a shield for example.
